FANGIRL (2026)

Short Film

Written & Directed by Mark Dearborn

After a thrilling performance, a celebrated Broadway star catches the attention of a disturbed fan, turning her journey home into a paranoid nightmare.

Constance Cambridge has it all, talent, fame, and the lead role in Broadway’s biggest show “Hell’s Bell”, but beneath the spotlight, self-doubt gnaws at her. After a chilling encounter with an obsessive fan, her night unravels into a psychological nightmare. A disturbing subway ride, eerie disturbances at home, and a creeping sense of being watched push her to the edge. As fear and reality blur, Constance must face a horrifying truth, this isn’t just a fan. It’s something far worse.

Starring Jackie Burns as Constance (Wicked, If/Then) and Christina Germaine as the super fan (Unseen, Butterfly Hour), Fangirl is a psychological thriller that explores the dangerous intimacy that can develop between artist and audience. Anchored by compelling performances from both leads, the film examines what happens when admiration evolves into something far more unsettling.

Fangirl is currently in post-production and is expected to begin its festival run in Fall 2026. Trailer and film coming soon!

Behind the Scenes

Principal photography took place over two days and two nights in June 2021 in Essex, Connecticut, during the height of the pandemic. Filmed almost entirely in a family's basement, the production embraced its limitations to create an intimate and claustrophobic atmosphere. Matthew James Thomas and Jackie Burns brought extraordinary depth and collaboration to the process, helping shape many of the film's most memorable moments both on and off the page.
